Accident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis

Accidents happen. Knowing what to do when they happen is paramount. This course focuses on the appropriate steps to be taken when a workplace accident occurs. It will review various investigative procedures and techniques for securing and surveying the accident scene. It will also teach you about the "root cause analysis" process. Finding key witnesses and conducting interviews. Learning about how to generate accident reports and an emergency response plan is also included.

Employee Empowerment & Team Building Skills

Increasing the authority level and accountability for regular employees, allowing them to make more day-to-day decisions without consulting management, leads to employee empowerment. Apart from the fact that employee empowerment can be effective in motivating employees; it also creates more satisfying and meaningful jobs. Another key benefit is that workplace decisions can be made more quickly. This is particularly important in customer service related jobs.

Managing Change: Making It Work for You

This course helps employees successfully negotiate transitions such as merges, downsizing, restructuring or relocation and learn to accept unavoidable change. Discussions will include; anxiety and other common emotional responses to change. Change is an ongoing process rather than a threat.

Occupational Health and Safety

This course is geared towards helping you understand and implement standards and procedures within the Occupational Health and Safety Act & Regulations. A review of the OH&S legislation, requirements and policies will be done. Information on work refusals, controlling hazards, inspection audits and reporting accidents is included. Participants will also be trained in helping to train others in OH&S.

Supervisor Due Diligence

Supervising is hard work! This course teaches you about the many roles and responsibilities of the supervisor. Included in the program are topics such as how to be an effective supervisor, learning about your supervisory style, how to foster a positive workplace environment and learning conflict resolution and disciplinary techniques. Legal responsibilities, site emergencies, accident investigation, injuries and fatalities will be covered. Your responsibilities with respect to the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations will be reviewed.

WHMIS Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System

This course helps you navigate through the many federal and provincial laws dealing with workplace safety. It will include topics such as identifying workplace labels and help one in understanding MSDS materials safety data sheets.

Workplace Inspections

The purpose of a workplace inspection is to identify hazards that could endanger the health and safety of anyone in the workplace. It can also determine whether established procedures are being followed. Inspections are not only for the industrial workplaces, mines and construction sites. Laboratories, offices, warehouses and stores may all contain hazards to health and safety. This course will assist workplace inspectors answer four main questions. Action can then be taken to control or remove the hazard in order to prevent work-related accidents, disease or injury.
