This week's Bodgey Scaffold is another example of poor planning and dangerous innovation.

You would think that the company installing this shade sail system would have known the height of the pole before starting work. There is no excuse for companies not providing suitable height access equipment for their workers to do the task safely.

As the worker also needs to lift the heavy steel pole top section into position, the job is made even more hazardous.

The air conditioner installers in this week's Absolute Shocker must not have read WorkSafe's new Health & Safety Solution - Lifting plant onto roofs, which specifically addresses the task they are performing.

The Health and Safety Solution recommends the use of a mechanical lifting device, such as a portable lift or a ladder hoist to lift air conditioners.

Thi these workers lose control of the air conditioner, they may get to enjoy the nice cooling breeze wafting through a hospital's air-conditioning system.
