This week's Bodgey Scaffold is another in the ongoing series of how not to use trestle scaffolds. The inspector, who discovered this scaffold in use, took appropriate compliance action.
This type of strestle scaffold is only suitable for light-duty, low-level work (max height of 2 metres) and is definitely not suitable in this situation, with:
- Working platforms which are not level
- Working platforms with are only on plank wide, instead of two planks
- Complete lack of fall protection
Remember the four key requirements in scaffold safety are:
- The scaffold must be appropriate for the task
- All scaffolding components must be compatible
- There is safe access and egress
- The scaffold must be complete
Last but not least the complete lack of sun protection being worn by either worker.
